Unfortunately, it is common for autistic children and young people to face extra challenges at school compared to their peers. AWARE is a great place to access peer support and advice about education issues. We have a range of help guides which can provide information and direction on what to do to help your child. We also hold Support Group sessions which often cover school issues. Our Zoom ones are recorded to be accessed at your leisure. AWARE’s Autism Support Groups – here to help you!

AWARE holds a weekly Autism Support Group via Zoom (most weeks during term time) which span a huge range of subjects. Recent sessions have included ADHD, 'School Refusal', Anxiety Strategies for Children & Parents, Restrictive Eating, PDA, Preschool Help, Speech and Language and Resourced Provisions. We have topics that will help with your child's behavioural challenges, sensory needs, education issues, mental health and - just as important - your own wellbeing as a parent or carer.
